What Should You Wear To Your Engagement Party

The love of your life just popped the question and now you’re ready to pop the bubbly and toast! Throwing an engagement party is a nice way to celebrate your love with your friends so send them an engagement party invitation to let them know the good news. However, what in the world do you wear for an engagement party? The great thing is, you’re the one choosing the venue, theme, and dress code, so you can wear whatever you want! The engagement party is a great way to test our your wedding menu ideas and kind of get a feel for what your guests will like at the actual wedding.  With the being said let’s get to the most important decision.  What to wear. Here are some ideas to help inspire your engagement party outfit!

  1. All White

There is nothing wrong with keeping it classic and opting for an all-white dress. White is very timeless and very bridal in nature. It can also make a great statement at the party and say to guests, “Look at me, I’m getting married!” Your party’s theme, venue, and dress code will determine the length of your dress, but more often than not, a floor-length or knee-length dress is the way to go. If you would rather not wear stark white, opt for a flowy dress in cream, champagne, or beige.

  1. Pastels

Wearing a pastel color is a great way to still look timeless while taking a few steps away from tradition. A nice pastel pink, blue, or yellow is especially beautiful when the engagement party is in a garden or during the spring season. For an outdoor party, think about wearing a beautiful pastel lace dress, or a simple pastel maxi dress or sundress instead of the traditional cocktail dress.

  1. Color Block

Choosing to go with block colors can make an impactful punch! Bold and bright colors like cobalt, tangerine, fuchsia, emerald, and poppy are eye-catching and allow you to break free from tradition. But because the color is making the statement, don’t overdo it with your jewelry, clutch, hair, shoes, or dress silhouette. Think about going with a sleek ponytail or gentle curls. Choose simple pumps and an understated clutch. And if you want to wear jewelry, a pair of diamond studs or a thin-chained necklace are the way to go. Remember, your dress color and ring (and you!) are the stars of the show!

  1. Nontraditional

You’re not a traditional bride, so why not throw caution to the wind and choose something that reflects your personality? If you are not a fan of dresses, consider an amazing jumpsuit! Or pair some culottes with a beautiful blouse or blazer and heels. Are you a little more bohemian and love to be barefoot with the sand between your toes? Go with a flowy, boho-chic printed dress and barefoot sandals. Feeling a little more wild? Animal prints are storming the scene! Pair a sassy leopard print dress with understated heels. As long and you feel comfortable and confident, you can’t go wrong!

Planning a wedding can be daunting and stressful, but the engagement party is a fun occasion to let your friends and family celebrate the love you and your new fiancé share. So don’t stress about the dress! If the outfit feels right, go for it!
