- Pullover: They have to be pulled over the upper torso. They generally do not have front zippers or pockets. They are generally made of thick cotton or blends. They can be used for any events such as sports, fishing, hunting and several other outdoor activities. Rather than promoting style the pullovers are more into providing comfort. They also have better breathability qualities making it more comfortable.
- Athletic: These sweatshirts are generally made of synthetic fibers suitable for humid and windy conditions. They are also very suitable for workout in the gym or outdoor sports. They generally have front zippers. Sweatshirts are usually paired with sweatpants making it a perfect outfit for the athletics.
- Sweatshirts with pockets: All the types of sweatshirts can have pockets. Occasionally sweatshirts without front zipper have pockets. They are usually located in the front side in the bottom of the sweatshirt. The ones with center zippers have the pockets divided in both sides. Here the pockets become smaller but they do not bulge out like the undivided ones. The sweatpants that the athletics use have pockets in the side seams. They are usually the most secure ones.
- Hoodies: They provide the same characteristics of pullovers along with a hood. They may or may not have front openings. The materials of hoodies are usually thicker than the traditional pullovers. It is very useful in chilled cold weathers. The hood provides cover to the head, ear and shoulders. They usually have center pockets that are open and provide comfort to the hands.
