One Sunday when I went to the Church, and my Church is a traditional church, I saw almost no man had tie and coat, and there were women wearing jeans or slacks, and some even flip-flops. The vast majority attending the congregation were dressed casually.
Is it all that when we go to worship, all that matters is the heart?
Samuel 16:7 “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Yes, worship is a matter of your inner self, your heart, it has nothing to do about what you are wearing.
The time has changed, this is a new world of fashion, and no Scripture says a single word about what should someone wear in the congregation. But still there is something called biblical principles, while you are praying God, you are listening to the words right from him, you want to align yourself the best as your heart would say. You want to look on the mirror and say, yeah what I am wearing is right, and God would like me this way.
The real meaning of worshipping is that we are giving up our self to God.
Romans 12:1 “Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.”
In other words, when we are taking our self to God’s Temple, we are taking our whole self to the place of worship in a hallowed manner. So, at that moment we are the Temple of God. This means that we should take us as the best way we can to present us to God. We should make us look the best, with the best appearance, with the best dress we can wear to the House of God.
